Season Update!
To all;
A sincere welcome to all our Hockey families to another year of Burford Minor Hockey!
We have some exciting things planned for this season and we look forward to seeing the players back on the ice in late August.
Burford Coyotes will host conditioning free skates for players U6-U18 the first couple of weeks to get equipment fitted and to get back into hockey shape prior to any evaluations. Our first Ice at the Brant Sports Complex will take place last week of August. Please see website for times.
We will host a number of development sessions including Goalie Development, Body Checking Clinic as well as some Power Skating. Everyone must be registered to attend the Skates. Our first ice in Burford is scheduled for around Sept. 17 with our U5 Learn to Skate Program to begin once ice in Burford.
Please follow http://www.burfordminorhockey.com for more information and scheduling of skates.
A reminder…. Registration closes August 27th! Registrations will be accepted with a late fee until Sept 17th, pending availability of space based on player numbers. Do not hesitate to register. No payment is necessary to register.
You will see a few changes this year. Through an OMHA initiative, all gate fees at all levels have been eliminated. While this has been an important source of revenue for our association it will simplify game entries it will eliminate the ‘mad search for toonies’ before entering the games. The Additional Entry (AE) division has been eliminated and replaced with a new division that will be known as a Tier 2 team in most centres. In addition to Rep Teams in each division.
Our player development group are planning a specialized series of goalie clinics open to all BDMHA goalies and any young players interested in trying out the position. BDMHA has a small inventory of goalie equipment that can be utilized by young players looking to try the position U9 and below. Development sessions will be scheduled for goalies and players of all age groups prior to the beginning of tryouts. These sessions are not evaluation sessions; they are simply a chance for players to get back on the ice and prepare for the season ahead. All players are encouraged to attend. Coach training sessions will be held for all levels throughout the season with coaches able to share ideas, practice plans and experiences with each other. The sessions will be led by a certified development coach as well as professional development partners in the area.
Tryouts for the rep teams will begin in mid September. Please watch the BDMHA website and the calendar section for upcoming ice times for each age group.
We are still in need of several unfilled positions for our executive please reach out if you are interested in helping out our Athletes.
We are looking forward to a great hockey year in Burford!
Your BDMHA Executive,
